1. Inherent characteristics: Light is unidirectional (lacking diffuse scattering), which ensures high illumination efficiency.
2. Unique secondary optical design: Light is directed precisely to the target area, further enhancing efficiency and achieving energy savings.
3. High luminous efficacy: LEDs currently achieve 110–130 lm/W with significant room for growth (theoretical limit of 360 lm/W). In contrast, the efficacy of high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps increases only with higher power ratings; thus, LEDs generally outperform HPS lamps in overall efficacy (though theoretically speaking, HPS lamps exceeding 250W actually surpass LEDs in efficacy).
4. Superior color rendering: HPS lamps have a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of only around 23, whereas LEDs exceed 75. From a visual-psychological perspective, LEDs can achieve the same perceived brightness with an average illuminance level more than 20% lower than that of HPS lamps.
5. Low light decay: Annual degradation is less than 3%, meeting road lighting standards even after 10 years of use. HPS lamps suffer from significant decay, dropping over 30% within a year; consequently, LED streetlights can be designed with lower power ratings than HPS equivalents.
6. Automatic energy-saving controls: Power consumption can be minimized based on lighting requirements at different times of day. Features include computerized dimming, time-based scheduling, light-sensing and temperature-sensing controls, and automatic system inspections.
7. Long lifespan: Operates for over 50,000 hours and comes with a three-year quality warranty. A drawback is that the lifespan of the power supply unit is not guaranteed.
8. High luminous efficacy: Uses chips with an output of ≥100 lm/W, enabling energy savings of over 75% compared to traditional HPS lamps.
9. Easy installation: No need for buried cables or ballasts; units can be mounted directly onto poles or the light source can be retrofitted into existing housings.
10. Excellent heat dissipation: Summer operating temperatures remain below 45°C; however, the reliance on passive cooling means heat dissipation performance may be insufficient in extreme summer conditions.
11. Reliable Quality: The circuitry and power supply utilize high-quality components; each LED features individual over-current protection, eliminating concerns about damage.
12. Uniform Light and Color: No lenses are used, and brightness is not prioritized at the expense of uniformity, ensuring consistent light and color without halos or artifacts.
